Like That Gnarly Bong On Your Desk.
As many of our regular patients know, the benefits of smoking out of a bong are wonderful; clean, smooth hits. Better, stronger effects. But we don’t know anyone on earth who can tolerate the smell of old, dirty bong water.
But I’m laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy.
We’re trying to get rid of that stereotype, remember? Besides, no one wants to smoke out of your bong if it looks like you filled it with hot cola. Need more reasons? It makes the stickiest, sweetest bud taste disgusting. And on a more terrifying note, bong water left over 22 hours can begin to start growing bacteria, just like with any other organic material. No one wants to put Amoeba Kush in their lungs. A good (if not a bit lazy) rule is that if you can’t see through your bong water, it’s time for a change.
Salt & rubbing alcohol
We suggest putting your pieces (good for pipes, bowls, etc) in a ziplock bag and fill it up with rubbing alcohol until your pieces are covered. Sprinkle liberally with salt (course salt is best). The salt crystals won’t dissolve in the alcohol, and the alcohol serves as a solvent to break that hard to remove resin off. Give it a good shake until everything is dislodged (might be shaking awhile) and rinse with hot water and dish soap.
If you don’t mind potentially ruining a pot, you can always put your pieces in a pot of boiling water and boil the crap out of it. Your glasswear should obviously be heat proof. Resin can often get stuck to the sides of your pot (which you can remove with a bit of rubbing alcohol) and it *will* make your kitchen smell.
Rice & Nail Polish remover
Exactly the same process as the salt & rubbing alcohol. We’ve found that acetone works better than rubbing alcohol and rice is larger, which is great for pouring straight into your bong and swishing it around. Don’t forget to rinse it off with hot water and dish soap after! No one likes the taste of acetone.
Q-tips are also great for scrubbing your bowls, in case they’re not removable.
Oops, I did it again. I played with your bong.
Cleaning up bong water smell is the worst. Thankfully, there’s a commercial product called, “Nature’s Miracle”, which many pet owners swear by. It breaks down organic spills (like bong water…or cat pee, or dog poop…) and leaves it serial killer clean. In a pinch, white vinegar and baking soda on the stain will naturally deodorize everything.
To Sum up: Be a conscientious cannabis user. Keep your nose and your bongs (and pipes) clean!
